Permanent Powder Brows

More Defined Eyebrows

Powder Brows, a more traditional permanent makeup, is the process of implanting semi-permanent pigment under the skin to create the look of an eyebrow with tiny dots to resemble a powdered brow. This technique goes deeper in the skin and can create a bold or soft natural looking brow. Richard can feather the edges and control the density to keep it soft and natural looking. This service can also cover up or correct old or undesired permanent makeup.

Permanent Powder Brows FAQs

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent Makeup is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (semi-permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble an eyebrow with makeup.

Do Permanent Powder Brows hurt?

Discomfort is minimal and numbing creams are used to ensure a painless procedure. Most would compare the degree of discomfort to the feeling felt when threading their brows.

How long does the Powder Brows service take?

We book each client for 2 hours. This includes consultation, numbing, perfecting and ensuring your comfort.

What is the difference between Microblading and Permanent Powder Brows?

Basically, it is lines (drawn hair) versus dots. Microblading is the drawing of individual hairs with lines,  Permanent Powder brows is made up of fine dots. Microblading is more superficial and does not go as deep as Powder Brows. Therefore Powder Brows tend to last longer and work on more skin types.

Can Permanent Powder brows look "natural' and "soft"?

Absolutely. Richard has mastered his technique with the use of a hand tool to feather out the edges and control the amount of pigment that is applied.

How is Richard Victor Permanent Cosmetics different from other makeup artists?

With Richard, you are getting not just a technician but a true artist. With hands-on experience of over 15 years, Richard has seen it all. He is patient, gentle, communicative and will work together with his clients to receive the best outcome.

Approximately 18-24 months with proper aftercare and follow up appointment(s). Skin type and lifestyle can effect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo - we can not guarantee specific results.

Are there any reasons why I should not receive the Permanent Powder Brows procedure?

You must be 18+ to receive a service. As a safety precaution, we refrain from working on individuals who are pregnant or nursing. If you have previously tattooed eyebrows by another artist, we do require a visual consultation via email before you are eligible to book an appointment. This is to ensure expectations and achievable results coincide with one another. If you are diabetic, you must insure your diabetes is well controlled. High blood sugar levels can complicate the healing process. We also refrain from working on individuals who are going through chemotherapy because they are at higher risks of bleeding and infection.

Which payment methods does Richard Victor Permanent Cosmetics accept?

We accept cash, credit card, Venmo or Zelle.

Do you need to shave or remove any hair from my eyebrows before the service?

No, we cherish every hair. We want to work with as much hair as possible and will remove any that do not compliment the final shape. We actually prefer you to let them grow in as much as possible before your visit.

Permanent Powder Brows After-care

What you should know after your service

Permanent Powder Brow post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows.

Immediately after your service you may continue to take any pain relievers or have caffeine that you may have stopped.

Intensified color, redness and some swelling in the initial stages of healing can be expected and is normal. The sensation can be comparable to a slight burn.

The pigment will appear dark and bold immediately after the procedure. After the first week it will fade and lighten about 40%.  For up to a month, it will continue to fade and soften as its still healing.

The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through a few phases during the healing cycle. Have patience through the process.

For the first 7 days:

You will leave with ointment on your eyebrows. Throughout the next 2-3 days, check your brows for any oozing liquid/oil/sweat from the brows. Your skin will secrete plasma to try to create a scab.  Gently blot this off with a cotton pad. Scabbing will pull the pigment out. Before you go to bed, gently clean the area with a soft cotton ball and a little bit of cold water. Reapply a very light coat of the supplied ointment with a clean cotton swab. Try not to sleep on your brows.

In the morning, repeat, gently cleanse the area with cold water, reapply the ointment, then shower. Keep your face away from the shower head, or as an alternative take a bath. The ointment will help protect the brows from the steam and any soap.

You will continue to repeat this process twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself.

Do not let any excess water, lotion, soap, makeup, powder, or creams touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure. Gently blot your brows throughout the day, to remove oil/sweat/fluid.

Avoid touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the ointment with a cotton swab.

You will experience a “peeling” stage. It is normal for the area to peel but not to scab. The brows will begin to appear lighter as the color starts to settle. Sometimes, even with proper care, clients can lose parts which can make the brow look uneven. It is a normal part of the process and it’s not uncommon for clients to need a touchup.

Itching and flaking may appear during the first 7 days of the procedure. Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing. Avoid picking, peeling, or scratching, in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment.

Wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. If your eyebrows get wet, gently blot them dry.

Avoid threading and waxing unhealed brows.

The following must be avoided for up to 30 days:

Increased sweating including practicing sports or exercise, swimming, hot sauna or steam room, long showers, hot bath, and hot tubs

Sun tanning or salon tanning

UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading

Laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A, retinol or any acids, such as Glycolic, Salicylic, citrus, etc. on the face

Once completely healed in 30 days, to help preserve your completely healed results:

Avoid over exposure to the sun. Use hats or sunglasses and apply a layer of sunscreen (SPF 30 up to SPF 50) on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure may cause the color pigment to fade more quickly.

Chlorine, Retin-A, retinol or any acids, such as Glycolic, Salicylic, citrus, etc., microdermabrasion, and other cosmetic products can lighten the pigment with repeated use. When getting any procedures, whether it be cosmetic or not, done to your face please let the individual performing the service know about your Permanent Powder brows to avoid the area.

After your 30 days, you may come back for the perfecting session. One touchup is included within 2 months from your initial session.

Touch ups give us an opportunity to

see how your skin heals, review pigment retention, and make any necessary adjustments.

The average brows last about a year to 2 years. The pigment will still be there but may need to be refreshed with color.  Although some brows last longer, its recommended to have a touch up annually.
