Microblading

Fuller Eyebrows

Microblading is a tattooing technique in which a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles is used to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin. Microblading differs from standard eyebrow tattooing because every individual hair is drawn by hand to create the look of a fuller eyebrow. Microblading is a very natural look that works best to blend with existing hair. A shading service can be added to add more density depending on your preference.

The brow shape is first outlined and is always a collaboration between the artist and client before and during the process. This service can be beneficial for both men and women.  Free consultations are available by appointment.

Microblading FAQs

What is Microblading?

Microblading, a semi-permanent procedure, is the art of embedding pigment beneath the skin with a specialized and sterile tool to create the illusion of strategically placed hair strokes for fuller and enhanced brows.

Does Microblading hurt?

Discomfort is minimal and numbing creams are used to ensure a painless procedure. Most would compare the degree of discomfort to the feeling felt when threading their brows.

How do I know if Microblading versus Powder Brows is right for me?

It is best for us to see your brows with photos or an in person free consultation. Microblading is a more natural looking approach, Powder Brows are more of a "makeup" look. Microblading is usually not enough if there is not enought existing eyebrow hair.

How long does the Microblading service take?

There are several stages which include; numbing, outlining the desired shape, the actual process of Microblading, and the fine tuning of the finished process. This usually takes roughly 2 hours.

Do different skin types react differently to Microblading?

In short, yes. However, healed results are unique to each client. In our experience, dry skin typically heals to a finer (crisp) finish, while oily skin typically leads to a thicker (soft) healed stroke. Results vary and can be attributed to a number of factors including; skin type, aftercare, and environmental exposure.

How is Richard Victor Permanent Cosmetics different from other makeup artists?

With Richard, you are getting not just a technician but a true artist. With hands-on experience of over 15 years, Richard has seen it all. He is patient, gentle, communicative and will work together with his clients to receive the best outcome.

How long does Microblading last?

Approximately 12-24 months with proper aftercare and follow up appointment(s). Skin type and lifestyle can effect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo - we can not guarantee specific results.

Are there any reasons why I should not receive the Microblading procedure?

You must be 18+ to receive a service. As a safety precaution, we refrain from working on individuals who are pregnant or nursing. If you have previously microbladed eyebrows by another artist or are a male client, we do require a visual consultation via email before you are eligible to book an appointment. This is to ensure expectations and achievable results coincide with one another. If you are diabetic, you must insure your diabetes is well controlled. High blood sugar levels can complicate the healing process. We also refrain from working on individuals who are going through chemotherapy because they are at higher risks of bleeding and infection.

Do you need to shave or remove any hair from my eyebrows before the service?

No, we cherish every hair. We want to work with as much hair as possible and will remove any that do not compliment the final shape. We actually prefer you to let them grow in as much as possible before your visit.

Microblading: FAQs

Microblading Pre-care

What you should know before your appointment

Do not book your Microblading appointment within days before a special event. You will require a few days of downtime following your initial appointment.

Please review our After Care section for a detailed overview of the healing process.

Please refrain from all activities that may cause irritation of the skin or thinning of the blood prior to your appointment.

Refrain from alcohol consumption 24 hours before receiving Microblading.

Refrain from caffeine such as consuming coffee and energy drinks the day of your appointment.

Refrain from suntanning, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, laser treatment, and chemical peels 7-10 days before your service. If you had an intense laser resurfacing, such as Carbon Dioxide, etc you must wait at least 6 months.

Refrain from all medications for 7 days that cause thinning of the blood including but not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen. Please consult your physician before stopping any medication.

If you are to receive any waxing or hair removal in the treated area, please allow a minimum of 2-3 days between your appointments for the skin to heal.

You must be off any and all Retin-A or Retinol products for a minimum of 7 days prior to your appointment and 30 days post appointment. These products can cause premature and extreme color loss. If you are experiencing any blemishes, acne, cold sores, any other skin irritations, or have a mole in or around the area of procedure please contact us immediately. It is up to our discretion to decide whether or not we have

a workable surface. Failure to communicate any of these may result in a cancellation or rescheduling of your appointment. All deposits are nonrefundable.

Eczema, dermatitis, rosacea, psoriasis or any one of these skin conditions may compromise the surface and texture of the skin. Procedures performed on skin with these type of conditions may have sub par results.

If you receive Botox around your eyebrows, please ensure you leave 2-3 weeks in between sessions to ensure it doesn't effect the overall symmetry of your new cosmetic tattoo. We refrain from working on individuals on Accutane and require our clients to be off the medication for a minimum of 1 year before receiving Microblading.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer or any extreme illnesses in the past, we require for you to have been in remission for a minimum of 1 year and have a signed note by a licensed physician in order to receive Microblading. The safety of our clients is our first priority.

Do not schedule an MRI until after 30 days of your service. Although are pigments are MRI safe, it is best to let your skin fully heal.

Note: Although we've seen excellent results achieved in a single session, it is best to come in with the mindset that multiple session are sometimes required to achieve optimal results. Touch ups give us an opportunity to see how your skin heals, review pigment retention, and make any necessary adjustments.

Microblading After-care

What you should know after your service

Microblading post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows.

After your initial procedure, the entire healing process and final result will take about a month. At that time, you may come back for the perfecting session. After that, the average brows last about a year. Although some brows last longer, its recommended to have a touch up annually.

Intensified color, redness and some swelling in the initial stages of healing can be expected and is normal. The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure but the color will then appear darker the next day for about 7 days. The sensation can be comparable to a slight burn.

The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through a few phases during the healing cycle. Have patience through the process.

As you move through the this “peeling” stage, brows will begin to appear lighter as the color starts to settle. Sometimes, even with proper care, clients can lose some of the original hair strokes which can make the brow look uneven. It is a normal part of the process and it’s not uncommon for clients to need a touchup. One complimentary touch-up is included within 2 months of service.

Important after care instructions:

Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 10 days after your procedure.

Gently blot your brows throughout the day, to remove oil/sweat/fluid.

For the first 2 days, gently cleanse the area with a moist cotton pad in one direction to remove oil/sweat/fluid. You may need to do this 3-4x a day depending on how much lymph is oozing from the brows. You want to prevent a build-up so that it does not scab resulting in pulling the pigment out when the scab falls off.

Days 3-14, make sure your hands are completely clean and gently apply a very small amount of the post-care ointment with a cotton swab and clean hands. This can be done twice a day, at night time and morning time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. If your skin is oily, use less an only once a day. Please continue to apply the ointment for 7 days.

Wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area.

When showering, keep your face away from the shower head, or as an alternative take a bath.

If your eyebrows get wet, gently blot them dry.

Itching and flaking may appear during the first 10 days post-microblading procedure. Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing.

The following must be avoided during the 14 days post-microblading procedure:

  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab

  • Picking, peeling, or scratching, in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment

  • Increased sweating including practicing sports or exercise, swimming, hot sauna or steam room, long showers, hot bath, and hot tubs

  • Sun tanning or salon tanning

  • Threading and waxing unhealed brows

  • UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading

  • Laser or chemical treatments or peels, and/or any anti-aging creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck

Once completely healed, to help preserve your completely healed results:

Avoid over exposure to the sun. Use hats or sunglasses and apply a layer of sunscreen (SPF 30 up to SPF 50) on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure may cause the color pigment to fade more quickly.

Chlorine, glycol acid, microdermabrasion, and other anti-aging cosmetic products can lighten the pigment with repeated use. When getting any procedures, whether it be cosmetic or not, done to your face please let the individual performing the service know about your microbladed brows to avoid the area.
